Meanwhile, the State Council Information Office has invited several lawmakers and political advisors to discuss Cross-Strait relations. They commented on President Xi Jinping's recent warning against "Taiwan independence".
"The achievements made in Cross-Strait ties are based on the 1992 consensus. which is against Taiwan's independence. If the new authorities in Taiwan want to alter this and play word games, it's no good for Taiwan's development, and will not benefit the people there," said Li Yihu, NPC deputy.
"Some politicians or certain political forces in Taiwan are manipulating public will to create political confrontation between Chinese mainland and Taiwan. We are against this behaviors, which will create chaos," said Zheng Jianbang, CPPCC delegate.
The NPC deputy and CPPCC delegates also briefed the media on the progress made in the cross-strait ties. They said President Xi's remarks have shown the Central government won't change its policies towards Taiwan, and at the same time demonstrated Chinese mainland's willingness to maintain peace and common development.
