In the NBA, the Washington Wizards opened up a five-game West Coast road trip with a visit to the LA Lakers. This would be the team's final time facing Kobe Bryant, who came in planning to conclude his farewell tour by playing in each of his squad's last 10 contests. But John Wall would look to steal the show against the retiring legend, and help the Wiz bounce back from Friday's double overtime loss to Minnesota.
The hosts come in needing to win six of their final 10 games to avoid their worst record since moving to LA in 1960, and Jordan Clarkson finds Kobe for a fast-break three that eventually rattles in, giving the Lakers an early 6-2 lead.
Then seeing none of his teammates open, D'Angelo Russell jacks up a trey of his own. That pushes the cushion to a dozen, and the rookie would finish with 22.

But Wall pokes the ball away from Clarkson, and Nene rewards him with the long pass leading to an easy lay-up on the other end, as Washington storms back and cuts the deficit to a deuce.
Wall and Nene would keep the Wizards close, before the big Brazilian's dunk puts the visitors in front in the second quarter.
The Wiz start to pull away, but the Black Mamba makes a vintage cut to the rack for the hoop and the harm. Bryant would score 17 points in just 23 minutes.
But Wall says he can go to the hole with the best of 'em, as he gets the bucket and-one. Washington's floor general on his way to 22 points. He would also dish out 13 assists.
The Wizards stay in control after half-time. Otto Porter stopping and popping for two of his 14 points, and the Wiz would cruise to a relatively routine victory.
In Sunday's other games, the Clippers sailed past Denver in the nightcap at the Staples Center. Paul George scored 25 points to lead Indy over Houston. Klay Thompson's second straight 40-point game, and Draymond Green's 12th triple double of the season, helped Golden State dump Philly, as the reigning champs improved to 66-7 and Sacramento routed Dallas.
