BEIJING, Feb. 24 (Xinhua) -- A Foreign Ministry1 spokesman said Friday that the Chinese Embassy in Buenos Aires will "closely follow the developments" in a recent train crash in Argentina that claimed the lives of dozens of people, including one Chinese national.
The embassy has got in touch with the relatives of the Chinese victim and provided them with necessary aid, spokesman Hong Lei said at a regular press briefing.
Hong said the embassy will help to properly handle the aftermath of the accident.
A packed commuter2 train crashed into station buffers3 in Buenos Aires during rush hour Wednesday morning, killing4 at least 50 people and injuring 703 others.
The Chinese victim, a woman surnamed Lei, had been listed as missing.
