A: Hi, come shopping with me. I want to buy a gift for my neighbor¹.
B: What for?
A: His wife² died³ a couple⁴ of weeks ago, and he is feeling⁵ lonely⁶. He’s been kind to us. I want to buy something to cheer⁷ him up.
B: What do you want to get for him?
A: I’m thinking⁸ of buying a bunch⁹ of flowers for him.
B: But I’ve got¹⁰ a perfect¹¹ idea. A dog.
A: A dog? Why?
B: He’ll be crazy¹² about it. He’s so lonely; he needs company¹³ rather¹⁴ than beautiful flowers.
A: Good thinking! The dog can keep him company.
 

1 neighbor   

n.邻居；v.邻接，毗邻而居，友好
