 Russia and the West appeared on the collision course of Ukraine. NATO has been holding an emergency meeting and says Russia's military activities in Crimea are threatening peace and security in Europe. Ukraine's newly appointed head of the navy has defected overnight, swearing allegiance to the Crimea region. 

 

 

Unions are calling on the federal government to grant Qantas a debt guarantee ahead of the Cabinet meetingin Canberra. Federal ministers will meet tonight to discuss possible assistance to the ailing¹ airline. Prime Minister Tony Abbott has all but ruled out offering a debt guarantee.
