Li Ming calls Evans & Sons Co. Ltd. and leaves a message.
Secretary: Evans & Sons Co. Ltd. Can I help you?
Mr. Li: Yes. May I speak to Mr. Roger Brown?
Secretary: I'm sorry Mr. Brown is on another line now. Can you hold?
Mr. Li: No, would you please take a message?
Secretary: Certainly.
Mr. Li: This is Li Ming from China Resources Co., Hong Kong. I'd like to get some information about your computer Model ABI.
Secretary: I'll make sure he gets the message.
Mr. Li: Thanks a lot. Will you send the information by fax?
Secretary: No problem.
Mr. Li: Thank you. Bye.
Secretary: Bye.

B. I'll Send It to you by E-mail
Wang Ling, a salesman, calls to speak to Mr. Black, the manager of the Wright Company. Mr. Black is not in and his secretary answers.
Mr. Wang: Hello! This is Wang Ling calling. May I speak to Mr. Black, the manager?
Secretary: I'm sorry, he is not in now. May I help you? I'm Mr. Black's secretary.
Mr. Wang: Oh, yes. You see, I'm in charge of overseas markets. Your products are of great interest to me. Would you please give me some information on your new products for our advertising² program?
Secretary: I can give you some information, and I'll send it to you by E-mail. I have your E-mail address.
Mr. Wang: Thank you very much.
Secretary: You're welcome. Good-bye.
Mr. Wang: Good-bye.

Passage A Fax

Nowadays fax and E-mail are becoming the symbols of office modernization³. As one of the most efficient means of communication, fax is taking the place of the telex⁴ and the telegram. The following is an example of a fax.
