女：“We’re having a potluck dinner.” it means¹ everyone has to bring a dish². This is really common³ between college⁴ students， because they don’t have any money.

男：potluck就是每个人带一个菜去，即简单又实惠。

女：If you say， “Would⁵ you like to come to dinner? It’s only potluck， but you’re welcome.”

男：家里没什么好吃的，不太好意思邀请朋友来做客吧？ 

女： That means， you can come over， but I’m sorry， I don’t have any good food to give you， so this is for good friends only.

男：和好朋友就可以友好地提出这种potluck dinner的邀请，像我这样爱呼朋唤友的单身汉可一定得学会这个词哦。
