参考课文听写:

开头部分:
G: well, hello, everybody and welcome to Let’s talk in English on PTS.
A: where you are going to learn something new today, welcome. My name is Andrea.
G: and my name is Gabe. And we have a great lesson for you today. First we'll start with some key words. Listen carefully, the first one is check something out, check something out. Check out that new restaurant, let me know if it’s good or not.
A: borrow, borrow. Can I borrow your coat? I am cold.
G: direct, direct. Mrs. Pang1 directed the Easter show at her church.
A: director, director. Mrs. Pang was the director of the Easter show.
G: star, star. Michael Jordan is a sports star.
A: well, let’s check out these key words one more time. The first one is check something out, borrow, direct, director, star.
G: well, now, let’s go on over to the star of our show today. His name is Eddy2.
E: yeah, you know, I want to be a director when I’ve done acting3.
G: really?
A: oh…?
G: well, you can and I’m sure…
A: well, it’s true. A lot of actors become to directors.
E: yeah!
G: that’s right. And both actors and directors are stars. You can be a star.
E: ok, good thank you. All right, today’s mission4, are you ready?
G: I’m already.
E: ok, ok. Here it comes… what kinds of movies does Simon like?
A: what kinds of movies does Simon like?
G: well, let’s go and find out in today’s lesson right now.

Conversation A
Betty: What kind of movies do you like, Simon?
Renee: Oh, you know Simon. He likes movies about sports.
Simon: Yeah. I loved Facing the Giants, did you see that?
Betty: No, is it good?
Renee: It is. Even I liked it.
Betty: I’ll have to check it out.
Simon: We have the DVD. You can borrow it sometime.
Betty: OK! Thanks.

g: Andrea, l love this. What did we find right here in the first conversation.
A: we found the answer to today’s mission.
G: yes, we did. The mission is what kinds of movies does Simon like?
A: what kinds of movies does Simon like? Simon likes movies about sports.
G: yes, he does. He even talks about this one called Facing the Giants. It’s an American football movie. And he says to check it out. Or Betty says that she’ll have to check it out. Let’s learn with this phrase means to check something out. Say it with me, check something out. When you check something out, then you look at something. Or you experience something. You check it out.
A: now, let’s use it. Sara found a new restaurant, she wants her friends to check the restaurant out. Or check my Blog out, you know, you can also say check out my Blog. Or check out something.
A: that’s right. Both are correct, check out the new magazine or check the new magazine out.
G: and check out this next key word we have. The word is borrow, borrow. To borrow means to take something from someone that you will give back to them later. to borrow.
A: yes. When you borrow, when you use it for a short time. You do not keep it, you give it back to the person you borrow it from.
G: hey, Andrea. Can I borrow your pen?
A: you want to borrow my pen.
G: well, I want to borrow your pen.
A: ok, there you go.
G: oh…oh, I will give it back later.
A: are you sure?
G: yes!
A: it’s not yours you’re just borrowing it.
G: that’s right. Ok.
A: ok. Good!
G: I finished. here, you can have it back.
A: oh, thank you. It’s my pen. Thanks, Gabe.
G: thank you for letting me borrow your pen.
A: you’re welcome, Gabe anytime.
G: so you can borrow many different kinds of things. If you want to borrow from someone, then you should remember to give back what you borrowed.
A: that’s true. Well, Betty can borrow the CD, the DVD from Simon. So she can watch the movie and then give it back to him.
G: well, I think now it’s time for us to go and learn a little more English with Thomas.
A: let’s check out what he’s going to teach us.

Conversation B
Simon: So… Who’s directing the new movie? Do you know?
Betty: Yes. Martin Howard.
Renee: Oh… He’s a good director. I like his movies.
Simon: Me too. Will they need any extras.
Betty: I don’t know. Why are you interested in?
Simon: I might be.
Renee: Me too. Being a movie star would be fun!
Simon: You’ll always be a star to me. Honey.
Renee: Oh… Simon, you’re so sweet.

A: Oh… Simon really is sweet. Now we learned5 about words like direct, director and star. That was reminds me of Eddy.
G: yeah. That’s right. Eddy was to be a star.
A: And he wants to be a director. Do you think that he can direct a movie?
G: Well, maybe he can learn how to direct a movie. But he’s always a really cool star.
A: He is our friend the star who can direct. Well, we can learn that key word. It is direct, direct. Now when you direct someone, that means you tell them what to do. When you direct them, you want them to be the best they can be.
G: And when you direct a movie, that means you are the person who is telling all of the actors and everybody else what to do. To make it look good, you direct something.
A: So… yes, it’s true. You can direct a movie. You can also direct cars. Sometimes when there are many cars on the road, someone will direct the cars, tell the cars where to go.
G: And so the person who is directing in this conversation, his name is Martin Howard. And we find out that he is a director.
A: And he is a good director. This is a good key word to learn. director, director. The director is a person who directs. The director of a movie is the person who tells the actors what to do.
G: Yes. And remember, everybody. This word is spelt d-i-r-e-c-t-o-r, not d-i-r-e-c-t-e-r, remember its or at the end, director.
A: Our next key word is star, star. Here a star is a famous person. You can have a TV star, a movie star or a sports star.
G: And we see at the end of the conversation, Simon says you’re always be a star to me. So a star can mean someone who is very special to you as well.
A: Well, someone who is special to ask is our teaching6 star.
A+G: Thomas.
A: Let’s go see him.
G: what a star!

Song Time
G: Dare to dream, dare to believe, dare to join us here at Let’s talk in English for this month.
A+G: Song Time.
G: That’s right. This month’s song is called Dare TO Dream. Do you remember what that means? It means don’t be afraid of dreaming and stepping out to do something big with your life.
A: That’s right. So are you ready to learn more from this month’s Song Time? Yes. Ok. Let’s go. Let’s take a look at the **** where it says dare to dream, dare to believe, you can soar7 so high beyond the clouds.
G: Wait, ****. Let’s talk about that word soar, you can soar so high beyond the clouds. What does it mean to soar.
A: Well, when you soar that means you fly very high up in the sky.
G: I can think of some other things that soar. Can you everybody? An airplane soars8 in the sky, it flies high in the sky. And some birds also soar that means they fly very quickly and very fast, they soar in the sky. So if you can soar so high up in the sky, it does mean that we can actually fly if we dare to dream.
A: Well, no. But it does mean that you can feel very free, you can feel like a bird that it is high in the clouds
G: Ok. So you feel very free. And there is another word that we can look at here. You can discover, you can discover where dreams are found. Now to discover something means to find it or to learn it for the very first time.
A: So you can discover where dreams are found when you dare to dream. Now this song also says this is your once in a lifetime. Now ****, what does mean?
G: Well, your lifetime is how long you live. So there are something to happen many times in your lifetime like you go to school or you go to work many times. And other things only happen once in your lifetime. So these are called once-in-a-lifetime experiences. This is very special because they don’t happen very often. Do you have any once in your lifetime experiences.
A: Well, you get to learn English every day. So that’s not a once-in-a-lifetime experience. But you know something that it is a once-in-a-lifetime experience. Well, that would be going to the moon. Well, now that would be so cool.
G: That would be really cool, it would be a once-in-a-lifetime experience. So this song says when you dare to dream that it’s your once in your lifetime. It’s your moment. It’s your time to shine.
A: When you shine, you do something very well. You like a light that everyone can see. So let’s go see the sun shine singer’s shine with our Song Time.
A+G: Dare TO Dream.
