In 60 AD, Boudicca rose up in furious revolt, quicklygathering an army bent1 on vengeance2. With the cream of the Roman troops tieddown suppressing an insurgency3 in north Wales, Boudicca's army marched towardsthe place which most symbolised the now-hated Roman colonisation of Britain,Colchester.
