Where do you come  from?

I come from  England.

What's the  climate¹ like in your country?

It's mild²,but it's not always pleasant³.

The  weather's often cold in the North and windy inthe East.

It's often  wet in  the West and  sometimes warm in  the south.

Which  seasons do you like best?

I like  spring and summer.

The days are  long and the night are short.

The sun  rises early and sets⁵ late.

I don't like  autumn and winter.

The days are  short and the nights are long.

The sun  rises late and sets early.

Our climate  is not very good, but it's certainly⁷ interesting.

It's our favourite  subject of  conversation⁸.

1 climate

2 mild   

adj.温暖的，暖和的，（天气，尤指冬天）；性情温和的

• That coat is too heavy for such a mild day.这样暖和的天气，穿那件大衣太厚了。
• He is mild of manner.他举止温和。

3 pleasant   

adj.令人愉快的，舒适的；vi.满意，喜欢；vt.使高兴

参考例句：

• We spend a very pleasant evening.我们度过了一个愉快的晚上。
• The climate here is pleasant.这里的气候很宜人。

4 rise   

v.(rose,risen)上升；升起；起床；起立

参考例句：

• The sun rises.太阳升起来。
• I always rise with the bell.我总是听到铃声就起床。

5 sets   

n.凝固( set的名词复数 )；（一）套；布景；集v.放( set的第三人称单数 )；安插；树立；安排

参考例句：

• There is reasonable concordance between the two sets of results. 两组结果之间有着合理的一致。
• There is a contradiction between the two sets of figures. 这两组数据相互矛盾。

6 set   

n.组合，集合，设定；一套，一副，一局比赛；v.放置，设定；(太阳)落下去

参考例句：

• He set to with a will and soon finished it.他下定决心做这件事，很快就完成了。
• The bus set the children down just outside the school gate.公共汽车让孩子们正好在学校门口下车。

7 certainly   

adv.当然，无疑；一定，肯定，必定

参考例句：

• He is certainly a hero!他无疑是个英雄！
• Some people certainly think so.有些人肯定会这么认为。

8 conversation   

n.谈话，交谈

参考例句：

• Conversation is one of pleasures of life.交谈是人生一大乐趣。
• We'll carry on a conversation with her tomorrow.我们将于明天与她会谈。
