The Elderly¹ Man

困惑的老人

Sam and Mary were walking back to their apartment² after a long day of classes.

珊和玛丽上完一整天的课之后，正走回她们的公寓。

Usually the park they walked through was³ quiet, but not today.

Today they heard someone⁴ shouting, which worried⁵ them.

The shouting got⁶ louder, and they saw⁷ an elderly man ahead⁸ of them.

He seemed⁹ to be shouting at someone near him, but no one was there.

"What's going¹⁰ on?" Sam asked.

"Maybe we should get closer."

The man was walking very slowly¹², so it was easy for Sam and Mary to get closer.

After following¹³ him for a minute, the girls thought¹⁴ he was just wandering¹⁵ around.

He walked one way and then the other.

He saw the elderly man and began to talk to him.

The young man touched the elderly man's shoulder.

Then the old man began shouting at him very loudly and tried to hit the young man.

The young man stepped²¹ back and quickly walked the other way.

The elderly man kept on wandering.

"Do you think he's dangerous?" Mary asked.

"I think he's confused," answered Sam.
