A committee investigating the George Washington Bridge traffic jam scandal in New Jersey¹ could name the 17 people and 3 organizations being issued subpoenas² on Friday.

Southern California firefighters say calmer winds help to stop the 1,700 acre wildfire from advancing in the San Gabriel Mountains. That fire has destroyed 5 homes and forced several thousand people to evacuate³.

Dozens of wildfires are burning across south Australia while temperatures top 100 degrees. And strong winds are making conditions even more dangerous.

And a house that's advertised as slightly haunted is for sale in eastern Pennsylvinia. The couple selling the 113-year-old home says they've gotten calls from curiosity seekers and ghost hunters, but no legitimate⁴ buyers.
