Secretary of State John Kerry says a two-state solution in the Middle East is in serious jeopardy1. Kerry delivered a farewell speech Wednesday to outline his proposals for peace between Israelis and Palestinians. He said expansions of Israeli settlements on the West Bank are diminishing the chances for peace.
Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu called Kerry's speech a great disappointment. In a news conference Wednesday night, he said Israel shouldn't be lectured by the U.S. on peace. He says Israel is committed to resolving issues with Palestinians, but only through direct talks.
Dozens of residents in a Fraser, Michigan neighborhood have been evacuated2 after a massive sinkhole opened up. The 100-foot-wide area has caused homes to crack and buckle3. Officials believe it's been caused by a broken sewer4 line.
And New Yorkers are saying good riddance to 2016. The city celebrated5 Good Riddance Day Wednesday. People gathered in Times Square to discard their dislikes for the year and make public their wishes for the year ahead.
