 For the second time in two weeks, House Representatives are at a loss for a speaker. Majority leader Kevin McCarthy dropped out of the race to succeed John Boehner just moments before house representatives were set to vote. Here's NPR's Susan Davis. Kevin McCarthy was about to clinch¹ his party's nomination² to the next speaker of the house. But the California republican stunned³ his colleagues when he announced he was dropping out of the race. McCarthy told republicans he did not believe he was the leader to unite them. McCarthy was heavily favored against two of his opponents, congressman⁶ Jason Chaffetz of Utah and Daniel Webster of Florida. Both say they'll remain in the speaker's race. Boehner said he expected to hold another nominee⁷ election in the coming weeks. He had planned to resign at the end of the month but he says he'll remain in office until a new speaker can be elected. Another eclectic group of musicians will be considered for induction¹⁵ at the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame 2016 including Janet Jackson, Chicago and The Cars and Steve Miller¹⁷.
