It's week seven for the Olympic torch relay. The Olympic flame has been making its way around the UK and this week it is the turn of the Midlands.

The torch will make its way to the historic city of Nottingham, through the beautiful countryside of the Peak District and into the UK's second most populous¹ city, Birmingham.

The Midlands have several counties which are famous for pottery², such as Staffordshire and Worcestershire. Some of the powerhouses of pottery production from the 19th century are still in production today and there are a number of pottery museums in the area where visitors can get some hands-on experience.
