World Business Report editor Martin Webber takes stock of the year 2014 in business. He asks if many of the big global economic projects of recent decades are now on the rocks, buffeted¹ by a reawakening of policies based on national interests. Joining Martin are two respected commentators³, Martin Wolf – chief economics commentator² at the Financial Times - and Peter Morici of the University of Maryland, who tells us it is time to junk the euro currency. We discuss the increasing anger among those that haven’t benefited from globalisation, while Martin Wolf is challenged on why he didn’t recommend a complete split up of UK banks between retail⁴ banks and the investment banks that trade in financial markets.
