 Because of their sophisticated senses and remarkable¹ physique, white tips are great reef hunters. 

At night, they turn it into an art form, better than all other sharks. 

 

We expect sharks to be hunters, but after dark, the reef itself becomes one giant predator². 

By day, corals may be passive and plant-like, but by night, they become active hunters.

 

They snatch tiny animals from the current, immobilizing them with stinging tentacles³. 

Just like their relatives, the jellyfish.

 

And they're highly competitive.

Here, two individual polyps are fighting for possession of a single unfortunate creature.
