The US says the Syrian government has installed a crematorium in the military prison near Damascus in order to dispose of thousands of murdered prisoners. The top US diplomat² for the Middle East said that up to 50 detainees a day were being killed at Saydnaya.

The US Supreme¹¹ Court has declined to hear an attempt by Republicans to revive the straight vote identification law in the state of North Carolina. This leaves in place a lower court ruling that the law intentionally¹² targeted black voters.

And police in Mexico has discovered a secret tunnel inside a prison near the border with United States. The authority say they use thermal¹³ imaging to detect underground activity.
