1. President Barack Obama is promising Gulf Coast residents that the region will be left in better shape than it was before the massive BP oil spill. On a visit to the Alabama Coast, Obama said his administration will do everything it can to make sure the Coastal communities get back on their feet. 2. Crews have rescued at least 50 motorists and residents after a flash flooding washed out roads and inundated neighborhoods near Oklahoma City area. Portions of three interstates and numerous thoroughfares were closed. 3. American geologists say Afghanistan may contain as much as a trillion dollars in untapped natural resources. The government is tapping into the stores of iron, copper, cobalt, gold and lithium to transform the underdeveloped nation. 4. A North Carolina Congressman has apologized for grabbing a young man who approached him with a video camera. The video of Democratic representative Bob Etheridge also shows the Congressman swatting at the camera and asking to know who the two men are that approached him.
