1. Strong winds are expected to continue fanning the flames of two wildfires in Arizona. Hundreds of residents have evacuated, but no buildings have burnt. A California man is accused of starting one fire when he left behind hot coals at a camp site.

2. Suspect in the botched Times Square bombing faces arraignment Monday. He is accused of using money and training from the Taliban when he parked an SUV with a bomb near a Broadway theater last month. He faces up to life in prison if convicted.

3. A published report says Dutchman Joran van der Sloot retracted his confession in the killing of a young woman in Peru. He apparently claims he was intimidated during interrogation and promised to transfer to the Netherlands. Van der Sloot is also suspected in the 2005 murder of American Natalee Holloway.

4. At least 46 miners were killed in a Chinese coal mine on Monday when explosion ripped through the facility. At least 26 miners escaped the blast. China's mining industry is the world's deadliest.
