1. BP officials say they plan to begin forcing cement down the blown-out Gulf oil well today. The company plans to shove cement down from pipes attached to ships a mile above the sea. Yesterday, crews were able to force down the oil with mud.
2. A federal judge's decision to overturn California's same-sex marriage ban has touched off celebrations from coast to coast. Gay couples outside the San Francisco courthouse erupted with cheers after the ruling. Supporters of the ban say they plan to appeal.
3. Model Naomi Campbell has testified at the war crimes trial of former Liberian ruler Charles Taylor that she received "dirty rocks." Prosecutors contend Taylor got diamonds from Sierra Leone rebels in exchange for weapons during that country's decade-long civil war. Campbell tried without success to avoid testifying.
4. It was a war of words between Whoopi Goldberg and White House gatecrasher Michaele Salahi after Wednesday's taping of the view. Salahi says Whoopi hit her during the show. Goldberg says she simply put her hand on Salahi's back, trying to get her attention to talk about the night she and her husband crashed the president's state dinner. |
