1. A Christian charity group says it now believes non-local fighters killed 10 members of its medical team last week in Afghanistan. Originally the charity suspected robbers despite a Taliban claim of responsibility. The attack killed six Americans, two Afghans, a German and a Briton.

 

2. Flooding in Iowa has forced hundreds of people from their homes and killed a 16-year-old girl. The flooding in central and eastern Iowa has followed three straight nights of strong thunderstorms. A flash flood watch remains in many parts of the state through Friday evening.

 

3. All sides at former Illinois Governor Rod Blagojevich's corruption trial will meet Thursday after a note from deliberating jurors hinted they may be deadlocked. Jurors have been deliberating for nearly two weeks.

 

4. The number of U.S. homes lost to foreclosure surged in July. According to RealtyTrac, lenders repossessed nearly 93,000 properties last month, that's up 9% from June. Nevada continues to lead the nation in foreclosures with one in every 82 properties receiving a foreclosure notice.
