[00:00.85]The Symphony is a Way of Life
[00:05.99]The auditorium is full of people conversing in the audience.
[00:11.35] On the stage the performers are shuffling their music
[00:14.85]and tuning their instruments as they prepare for the performance.
[00:18.35]The conductor enters, takes a bow, and all is silent.
[00:22.61]He raises his baton and the symphony begins to play.
[00:26.66]All of the instruments have different sounds,
[00:29.17]and the parts they play blend and harmonize with one another.
[00:33.22] The music would not be as exciting if every part were the same.
[00:37.92]The symphony is a symbol for life, especially in a community.
[00:42.84] Diversity and the coming together of each instrument is
[00:46.67]what gives the symphony its unique and special sound.
[00:50.72]This is also true in life and the world we live in.
[00:53.89]Individuals bring in their own input that influences others.
[00:58.05]Individuality is an important part of the symphony.
[01:01.65]Each player has his or her own part to perform.
[01:05.92] These parts can be played on their own
[01:08.77] but do not have the same effect
[01:10.95]as when they are combined with the other parts of the orchestra.
[01:14.45] They blend into a harmonious piece of music.
[01:17.84]In other words,
[01:19.04]you can hear what each person has to contribute
[01:21.56]and how each performer works together.
[01:24.19]In life, each person has a talent that they are particularly good at.
[01:28.89] When they work together, it accentuates their talent.
[01:32.17]A surgeon can be very gifted but is more capable of saving a life
[01:36.44] if he has a team of medical personnel assisting him.
[01:39.61]When preparing for a concert,
[01:41.58]the musicians are reminded by their conductor to stagger their breathing.
[01:46.06]They can, of course, breathe
[01:47.92]when they need to but they have to try not to breathe
[01:50.65]at the same time as the person sitting next to them.
[01:53.50]If everyone breathed at the same time,
[01:55.91] there would be a noticeable moment of silence in the song.
[01:59.08] This is yet another example that can be applied to life.
[02:03.12] People have to breathe when they need to breathe
[02:05.85]and to do what they want to do.
[02:07.71]They have to be an individual and know that
[02:10.23] someone will be there to cover for them.
[02:12.64]The orchestra continues to play.
[02:14.82]It moves together as a group yet separately,
[02:18.10] with each person contributing their own part.
[02:20.95] Each musician is an active member of the symphony.
[02:24.12] We move together in life,
[02:26.30]contributing what we have to offer from day to day
[02:29.26]as active members in our community.
[02:31.77]The orchestra plays their last note and the song is over.
[02:36.15] There is a moment of silence
[02:37.68]that is broken by the applause of the audience. |
