The Meaning of “sayonara” So what about the word, “sayonara”? While “Konichiwa”is used to greet someone, “sayonara” is used when parting. In other words, a conversation between Japanese might go as follows: “How are you today? Are you still bright and healthy as is the Sun?” “Yes ,I am” And then they’ll say “sayonara”,which has the hidden meaning of ,“If you are living with the Sun, then you must be feeling fine.”So the words “Konichiwa”and “sayonara” are linked together in meaning. |
