1. The White House says President Barack Obama plans to sign the repeal of the military's ban on openly gay service members on Wednesday, four days after the Senate voted to abolish the policy. Obama's signature would end the Pentagon's 17-year, “don't ask, don't tell" policy and fulfill a 2008 presidential campaign promise.

 

2. Part of the Pacific Coast Highway near Malibu is closed by a rock and mudslide, as southern California continues to get soaked by record rains. Parts of Los Angeles area got more than three inches of rain yesterday. Authorities say major flooding in California's San Joaquin Valley has forced evacuation of 2000 residents of the farming community of McFarland.

 

3. British authorities aren't offering many details on the terror attack they say was being plotted by 12 men who were detained today. They were arrested in four cities. The police who arrested the men say they weren't armed, suggesting that any attack was not imminent. The sweep was the biggest anti-terror roundup since April of last year.

 

4. A dog in Germany has given birth to 17 puppies. The owner says they are thrilled but fatigued after having to feed them with a bottle for several weeks.
