[00:10.75]Sophie Amundsen is a fourteen-year-old girl,
[00:13.30]who starts to receive very strange letter
[00:15.40]from a philosopher who asks her questions.
[00:19.01]The first two letters include these:
[00:21.37]"Who are you?"
[00:22.63]and "Where does the world come from?"
[00:25.90]These questions get Sophie thinking seriously
[00:28.34]about things she has never thought about before
[00:32.23]she felt her heart beating fast
[00:34.01]as she opened the mailbox.
[00:36.08]At first she found only a letter from the bank
[00:38.37]and some big brown envelopes for her mother.
[00:41.34]Darn!Sophie had hoped to find another letter
[00:43.68]from the unknown sender.
[00:46.43]As she closed the gate behind her,
[00:48.08]she noticed her own name
[00:49.36]on one of the big envelopes.
[00:52.03]Turning it over,she saw writen on the back:
[00:55.07]"Course in Philosophy,Handle with care."
[00:59.56]Inside the envelope there were three typed
[01:01.66]pages held together with a paper clip.
[01:04.69]Sophie began to read.

[01:12.96]than two thousand years ago,
[01:15.38]believed that philosophy had its origin
[01:17.69]in people's sense of wonder.
