That's what you are hearing at the moment is the tsunami warning. It's the second time that it sounded tonight. People across the islands in Hawaii have been told that the wave could hit in about 4 hours, just under 4 hours of 7 minutes comes 3 in the morning. It is now 11:15. And just gonna be quiet, there is police car with a loud hailer.

The police are saying all visitors of Waikiki area return to hotels. Return immediately to your hotel for instructions. This is not a drill listen to your radio and TV for instructions. So that's what the police are telling people on loud hailers on the streets, and you are looking at the picture of the road, outside my hotel, normally a quiet road that runs along a quiet canal and the back of Waikiki. But at 11:20, here at night, this is now turning into obviously an evacuation route for many people who are concerned.

We understand that on Oahu, which is the island that Honolulu sits, there are 30,000 people in unsafe areas, so they are being told to move half a mile inland. That leaves most of the million or so residents here in safe areas. To what you are talking about here in Waikiki, calling this a vertical evacuation. There are a lot of skyscrapers here, a lot of hotels that sit along the Pacific coast, a very beautiful part of the world. They are asking people who are below the third floor to move above the third floor and to listen to their radio and TV for instructions.

We've just been down to shops ourselves to get some water and some supplies, come back into the hotel. There are a lot of people out there, a lot of people talking about it., but also a lot of realism here. People in Hawaii are used to events like this.
