Hello, Claire Aird with the National Weather. Taking a look at the satellite picture first, and widespread cloud across the interior in a broad trough is generating patchy rain and storms. Scattered cloud forming over the southeast is bringing a burst of heavy showers in Tasmania and coast of Victoria. Cloud across the tropics is also causing a few storms. To the states now, and Queensland will be cloudy today with rain spreading across the southern and central interior. Showers are forecast for New South Wales, with possible thunderstorms along the north coast. Some pockets of sunshine along the coast and in the northwest. A cool and cloudy day for Victoria with isolated showers on and south of the ranges. Early snow showers to 1,400 metres over the Alps but fine and mainly sunny in the northwest. Tasmania will see some rain and isolated thunderstorms mainly above the west and north. Snowfall's developing above the highest peaks. Scattered showers are forecast for South Australia and isolated early morning thunder, possible hail in the southeast. A mostly sunny day for WA with some scattered showers, mainly in the lower half. In the north, scattered storms in much of the state with heavy falls around the Alice Springs District. And a quick look at tomorrow in the capitals, a shower or two is forcast (for) Brisbane, Melbourne and Hobart. Fine and sunny in Sydney. Partly cloudy in Adelaide and there is an afternoon storm forecast for Darwin. |
