It may have been all eyes on Kate so far. But today William had other ideas. He is at home at the controls of seeking but for the Duke of Cambridge, this was no busman's holiday. This is waterbirding. Flight Lieutenant William Wales has never landed on water before, but he got it right first time. And the next, and the next, soon it looked like he was showing off.

 

If there was any question about the Duke of Cambridge's ability of the controls of seeking helicopter. This proves he is a deft hand. And he's even got one over on his colleagues from aerial valley who have never landed on water like he has. And if Captain Kate was going to steal back the limelight, she wanted to be in control, at the help of a dragon boat. Her rival skiper the Duke, all steered out after his helicopter display, chose to pedal. By the time she got to the starting line, a perhaps nervous Kate followed her husband's lead, pedaling from the rear. Time for some last-minute gentle golding. First from Kate pointing at William and then he at her, as husband and wife went head to head. In the end, it was William, the conquerer, rivalry over. It was back to Team Winsor, where Kate was still wearing the trousers. And well, William may look back at their time here as the day he stole the show from the island's Premier, a salutary reminder.
