1. Tropical storm Lee is drenching New Orleans and Gulf Coast. Bands of heavy rain and strong wind has already knocked out / power to thousands. Forecasters say as much as 15 even 20 inches of rain could fall before the slow moving Lee leaves the area. 2. Rebels in Libya are surrounding pro-Gadhafi cities, getting them days to surrender. Rebels say this is the last chance the loyalists have to avoid bloodshed and prolonged battles.
3. A new Nazi rally in Germany ended in a scuffle with police. Police say they moved in after members of a roughly 1000-strong group of “left-wing extremists” attacked officers and police vehicles on Saturday.
4. Top-ranked Caroline Wozniacki is a step closer to what would be her first grand slam title. The Dane topped American Vania King to move into the round of 16 at the US Open. |
