Moore made official the divorce from her husband of six years, saying in a prepared statement: "It is with great sadness and a heavy heart that I have decided to end my six-year marriage to Ashton. As a woman, a mother and a wife there are certain values and vows that I hold sacred, and it is in this spirit that I have chosen to move forward with my life."

　　Kutcher, 33, tied the knot with Moore in September 2005. Moore, 49, had previously married to actor and producer Bruce Wills for 13 years. The couple have three children together.

　　"I will forever cherish the time I spent with Demi," Kutcher said on his Twitter account. "Marriage is one of the most difficult things in the world and unfortunately sometimes they fail."

　　For months tabloids have been spreading the rumor that Kutcher, who recently stepped in to replace Charlie Sheen on CBS comedy " Two and a Half Men," has been involved in an affair with a San Diego party girl.

　　On their sixth wedding anniversary, the couple spent the occasion apart, with Kutcher partying at San Diego's FLUXX nightclub, and Moore attending the New York City premiere of Lifetime's "Five".
