Underwood Scores Another Chart Topper with 'Blown Away'
Blown Away, debuted at Number One on Billboard's Top Country Albums chart. Underwood, a five-time Grammy Award winner is only the second Country artist in the 47-year history of the chart to have each of her first four albums enter in the top spot. In late 2011, Miranda Lambert became the first to accomplish that feat with her latest album, Four The Record. Underwood follows only Linda Ronstadt and Faith Hill as the third female artist to have three Country albums reach Number One on the all-genre Billboard 200. She co-wrote eight of the album’s 14 songs, including the Caribbean-flavored track, “One Way Ticket.” Carrie Underwood married professional ice hockey player Mike Fisher in July 2010 and bought property outside of Nashville where the couple plans to build their dream home. She also signed several high-profile endorsement deals, and spent time in the recording studio working with other artists, including Tony Bennett, Randy Travis and Brad Paisley. Paisley returned the favor by playing guitar on a track for her new album. Blown Away covers a wide range of emotional territory; from love and faith to infidelity, child abuse and the loss of a family member to Alzheimer’s disease. Underwood will perform a sold-out concert at London’s Royal Albert Hall on June 21. She’ll follow that appearance with her first-ever headlining shows in Australia. More than 50 North American dates are scheduled for later this year. Currently climbing the chart is the first single from Blown Away, “Good Girl”, which recently became Underwood's 15th Top 10 Country hit. |
