RIO DE JANEIRO, Nov. 7 (Xinhua) -- Palmeiras' Argentine striker Hernan Barcos warned Wednesday that violent threats from fans could force him to leave Brazil. His comments follow a series of security concerns for the Brazilian top-flight outfit, including threats of a bomb attack this week at the club' s Sao Paulo training base.
"Being in a country that is not even my own and to have to get around in an armored car is difficult," Barcos said.
"At this rate I will be going home because it isn' t acceptable. It' s difficult to play in those conditions."
Revolt among Palmeiras fans has intensified in recent days as the club struggles to avoid relegation to the country' s second division.
With four matches remaining, Palmeiras trails Bahia, the nearest team in the safety zone, by seven points.
Barcos, capped three times for Argentina, has scored 27 goals across all competitions for Palmeiras in 2012.
He is reported to have received interest in recent weeks from Italy' s Fiorentina and a host of Argentine top-flight teams. |
