1. Colorado prosecutors have formally charged James Holmes with 24 counts of murder in the shooting at a movie theater. He was also charged with 116 counts of attempted murder. Two charges were filed for each of the 12 people killed and 58 injured. 2. Syrians fleeing the embattled city of Aleppo are reporting constant shelling as regime forces bombard rebels. They're also reporting food and gasoline shortages. The UN says 200,000 have fled in the last 10 days.
3. Mitt Romney is being criticized by Palestinians. That's after he told Jewish donors their culture is part of what has allowed them to be more economically successful than the Palestinians. A Palestinian official calls that a "racist statement".
4. And Missy Franklin struck gold for the US in the Olympic pool. The 17-year-old won the 100-meter backstroke. Meantime, Ryan Lochte finished a disappointing fourth in the men's 200-meter freestyle. |
