He makes looking casual, look awesome.

        Yeah, yeah.
He also makes me look like a Lilliputian.
Which is fantastic, actually. He is our next guest. Gone from the high school basketball courts of Florida to the NBA rookie of the year, NBA all-star, he calls this his home. He rules Manhattan and New York. He is, of course, Amar'e Stoudemire. And with us actually today because he is a man of many passions, including reading, and he's out now with a new book that he hopes will inspire kids to read. It is called "Stat, Home Court," it's based partly on his childhood. What a story it is. Standing tall and talented. Amar'e, welcome to the program.
        Thank you.
        My friend.
There's, look, you, you love a lot of stuff. You always have your hands in a lot of different things. But the book – where, why do this book?
Well I felt with the platform of me being, you know, in the NBA and being able to really inspire the youth, I feel like it was a great opportunity for me to really write some of myself stories and get them to understand, standing tall and talented is something that they should be able to heed to and succeed in life.
Yeah, it's been a big year for you. And I know, I'm very sorry, your brother was killed in a car crash in January. You dedicated the book to him. What did it mean to be able to do that?
It's awesome. I mean, you know, my brother was one of the main reasons of my success, you know, he played high school basketball. Inspired me to play basketball. And so his story was intriguing to me, you know what I mean, so that propelled me to become who I am today. So I wanted to dedicate that book, the first book of this series to him.
And, look, we're sorry for your loss. Really. Really. However, not all bad, your girlfriend, your mother, your children, Alexis Welch, you're now engaged.
        That's right.
        How'd you do it?
I did it in Paris. I rented out this amazing, this amazing suite in Paris. I had a panoramic view of the rooftops of Paris, and a candlelight dinner. I went full romantic with it.
Yeah, yeah, cheers. You set us all back. A lot, a lot of happenings. The Lakers have reloaded. The league has been remade again. How you feeling about the Knicks?
We're great, you know, we've got a great team. We feel like we made the right acquisitions this summer to, to make us better. And we've got a full training camp under our belt. Coach Mike Woodson is a phenomenal head coach for us, so it's gonna be a great year.
Of course, you and I go back. I had a former life before GMA, let's take a quick look at it, back to ESPN. He came by to shoot a commercial and he and I actually went toe-to-toe, head to head in a horse competition. Yeah, Robin, look at that. Look at the form. And I just want to say, because it's the only time I'll ever be able to say it with regard to Amar'e Stoudemire and basketball of any kind, I won. I just want to say, I won.
        Did he, Amar'e?
Yeah, he won because I'm not used to throwing trash balls into trashcans.
I have to say that's true. Yes, no, yes. Even when I, when I lose. Hey, everybody, Amar'e Stoudemire. OK. Congratulations, seriously.
Thank you, thanks a lot. Appreciate it.
