From NPR News in Washington, I'm Louise Schiavone.NASA is reporting a death in the family. Astronaut Neil Armstrong died at the age of 82. He was the first man to walk on the moon. His moonwalk on July 20th 1969 was the climax of entire US 20th century expedition. The words of Armstrong became the step? of history and were sealed forever. And the memory of those who are lucky enough to hear them at the time, Armstrong and Buzz Aldrin spent nearly three hours walking on the lunar surface, collecting samples, conducting experiments and taking photograph. Armstrong underwent heart bypass surgery earlier this month.

The far-eastern tip of Cuba is feeling the power of tropical storm Isaac, the weather system left heavy rains and flood in Haiti with at least three deaths they are attributed to Isaac. The storm is expected to pick up enough steam? to gain hurricane strength by tomorrow at Myer county Florida. Administrator R? advices residents of the Florida * and nearby communities not to take any chances.

Aid active wildfires are raging in Northern California about 450 acres of temperate grasslands have been burned and 8000 firefighters are being helped by air support from California Air National Guard. L of Member station KCA says the air tankers and helicopters have made all the difference in efforts to contain the ponderous fire into H* county which is 208,000 acres in size, 71% contained.

Firefighters have built the massive-contained * across the battle * to protect homes in Mineral, California. They constructed the line by hand. Air tankers dropped 12,000 gallon loads every * nearby. Firefighter J says they've been able to stop the fire two miles from the headquaters of L Volcanic National Park. But 300 homes are still threaten.

They are going out to hotspots in the helicopters. There are still 11 of them there?.
