We met most of the stars of Gatsby right here at GMA, and they are basically taking over our studio. Leo is next but right now, time for the man behind the vision. I have the pleasure to sit down with the director Baz Luhrmann at the *** the plaza. Recently reactivated by his wife Catherine martin, and we talk about turning the great American novel into a 3D wonderland

Australia director BL gave us strictly ballroom. Transform the lust of Paris, and ****, and erected a young RD in his version of Romeo and Juliet. Now the two team of the gang are to take on an American classic.
--You can feel the hunger, you know, sometimes not there, it’s there.

“Who is this Gatsby?”
Perhaps it’s the glamour of the era form the legend of Jay Gatsby.
“It turns into an extremely dark, psychological journey, I mean, Gatsby is the Hamlet of America, that’s why he is attractive in our lives.”
“He has natural screen glamour, he got all that. And early on it makes him very successful very quickly. And he got of cashed that cheque very easily. But his is only interested in complex, challenging and acting. ”
It is partailor May for the 30-year-old Oscar nominee. But the role of Rosie Begannen was up for grasp.
“That was the Gone with the Wind search, and everyone wants to play that role.” Luhrmann said he and DiCaprio knew that the first audition was part belong to Carrie Morligan.
“A paradise of happiness!”
Her chemistry with Leo impossible to deny, with an Oscar cast, costume and set as always created by his wife CM, Baz’s Gatsby was sanctueous and vibrant, and its attention to detail, legendary. And for the epic 3D party scene, that’s just “let it roll.”
“There is a moment where you can start to jump into the pool, and you become crazier and crazier. And the music stopped and it’s like they were all rolling, and when everybody stopped, and they were all dripping and exhausted, and laughing, crying. And all asked that wasn’t it crazy, wasn’t it right?”
“Turn the music on again.”
“And they all did that again for another 15 minutes until they dropped. And you know, a little party did damn kill everyone.”
And I said they sure did have fun making it. And he also says there is a laughing made of 3D decision. He loves it and he believes it will bring the movie that was in the action. Leo DiCaprio will join us tomorrow and the Great Gatsby is at the theatre this Friday. |
