At least 12 people are dead in a shooting rampage at Washington's navy yard. One shooter is dead. President Barack Obama is mourning what he called "yet another mass shooting" that he says took the lives of American patriots. Authorities in Colorado are using helicopters to search for more victims of flooding. The weather has cleared, allowing helicopters to take off again. Crews are searching for pockets of people still stranded.
An operation to pull the crippled Costa Concordia upright is under way. The lifting began this morning after a storm delayed the start. The ship crashed into a reef in January, 2012, killing 32 people.
