Nearly a hundred heads of state, including President Barack Obama are expected to gather Tuesday in South Africa to honor Nelson Mandela. Among those listed in the program are Obama, U.N. Secretary-Genegral Ban Ki-Moon and Cuban President Raul Castro. Vice President Joe Biden honored Mandela by signing a condolence book at the South African Embassy in Washington.
Test results show 11 whales found dead Sunday in the Florida Keys were emaciated and suffering from malnutrition. The whales are believed to be part of a pod of 51 orginally found stranded on an Everglades beach last week.
And officials in Newtown, Connecticut are asking for privacy as it marks the first anniversary of the shooting that left 20 children and 6 staffers dead at Sandy Hook Elementary School.
