The Japanese parliament, the Diet, has begun its ordinary session with Prime Minister Shinzo Abe delivering his policy speech.

Abe has talked about pushing forward the so-called proactive pacifism. The session is scheduled to last for 150 days, until June 22nd.

Parliament members will hold a question-and-answer session after Abe’s scheduled trip to India on January 25th.

The ruling and opposition parties are expected to debate on the controversial state secrets law, the fiscal 2013 supplementary budget and the fiscal 2014 budget.
