 Stanislas Wawrinka has claimed his maiden(首次的,初次的)grand slam(大满贯)title in a major upset of the Australian Open. Tournament favourite Rafael Nadal battled injury right throughout the match. Wawrinka took the first two sets. Nadal fought back to take the third set,but was powerless to stop Wawrinka who won the fourth set to take the title.

 
The search continues this morning for a 12-year-old boy believed to be taken by a crocodile in Kakadu National Park. Police helicopters and boats have so far failed to find any trace of the boy. He was swimming in the Billabong with a group of other boys when the attack happened.
 
Homicide detectives are investigating after a 19-year-old man was killed during an attack on a home in Melbourne's west overnight. Police say a group of up to ten people turned up at the house and began smashing windows. Two other people were hurt in that attack.
 
In Thailand, a protest leader has been shot dead during clashes with government supporters in the capital Bangkok. The violence erupted when anti-government protesters surrounded the polling stations. Now they are trying to block early voting ahead of next week's scheduled general election.
 
And opposition groups have rejected the latest moves to end weeks of unrest in the Ukraine. President Viktor Yanukovych has offered the job of prime minister to one of the opposition leaders. The protesters say they'll continue to push for fresh elections.
