 A low-pressure trough in Western Australia is triggering showers and potentially severe thunderstorms. Remnants of ex-tropical cyclone Dylan are generating widespread showers over southern Queensland. And a monsoon trough is generating thundery showers over northern Australia. 

 
Looking around the country.
 
For Queensland, rain and storms heaviest in the central east area. Mostly sunny in the south and northwest.
 
In New South Wales, a very hot and mostly sunny day in the west. Mild weather east of the ranges and mostly sunny.
 
For Victoria, a chance of afternoon showers and storms on the ranges. A very hot day with coastal sea breezes. 
 
It will be warm to very warm in Tasmania and mostly sunny with some northerlies developing.
 
For South Australia, a very hot and sunny day with rain developing in the far northeast and moderate northerlies. 
 
For Western Australia, some showers and storms for the tropics and western inland. Very hot in the north and the centre. Milder in the southwest. 
 
And for the Northern Territory, rain and storms developing in the southeast. Showers and storms in the Top End.
 
And looking ahead to tomorrow's forecast for the capital cities: late showers for Brisbane, mostly sunny in Sydney, Hobart, Adelaide and Perth, it'll be sunny in Canberra and Brisbane and some thunderstorms for Darwin.
