2. A fast moving wildfire is threatening hundreds of homes in central California. Fire officials say the fire has burned more than 3 miles of bone-dry trees, grass and vegetation since it began. At last report, it was10% contained.

 

3. Residents of a small Kenyan town assessed damage of an attack by dozens of Somali extremists that left at least 48 people dead. Extremists, who attacked the town’s police station on Sunday, set two hotels on fire and sprayed bullets into the street.
