When Dusty learns that his engine is damaged and he may never race again, he shifts gears and is launched into a world of aerial firefighting.
"I thought it was a great start. I knew that it would be a more of a harrowing adventure. The first film was so charming, it was lovely with this kind of tour around the world with the Dusty as he found his confidence and when they said alright here is the start, Dusty has got his purpose but now it's him finding out how can I give back to the people around me? How can I give back to my community?" Dane Cook said.
'Modern Family' actress Julie Bowen joins the 'Planes' cast as Dipper, an air tanker who is skilled at skimming lakes and putting out angry fires. Bowen is the mother of three boys. She admits that starring in a Disney film makes her a much cooler mom than collecting a fifth Emmy nomination for her role in 'Modern Family'.
"'Planes: Fire and Rescue' without a doubt. Without a doubt, 'Modern Family,' is the thing, first of all they don't watch it," Julie Bowen said,
"They're young and they are not interested and to them 'Modern Family' is the thing that people come up to me in the street and take me away from them. They are like, 'Ugh, 'Modern Family,' and they get really annoyed. Plus they are not interested. Is there anything cool in there? Well there is family and there is humor and they are like no, I'm not interested. This they are much more interested in."
Native American actor Wes Studi is more famous for his roles in "Dances With Wolves" or "The Last of the Mohicans," but now he can add one more thing to his extensive resume, voice actor. Studi says he has always wanted to voice a Disney character.
"I just jumped right into it. It was actually my first time that I had done this and everything new and fresh is something to pursue, yes?" Wes Studi said.
The filmmakers hired firefighters and a Native American specialist, and spent time at various national parks to create Piston Peak National Park. It's inspired by the Grand Canyon, Yosemite and Yellowstone. Dane Cook talks about why he loves visiting National Parks on his own time.
"It's a feeling unlike anywhere else. To kind of be disconnected from the world, you are not in Wi-Fi, you are kind of roughing it, but it's about the connections that you make with the people around you in those times that have great memories," Dane Cook said. |
