CCTV9英语新闻:试图限制北京的雾霾(在线收听) |
The Chinese government says it is trying to cut air pollution in Beijing ahead of the APEC summit of world leaders, which opens November 8. The Ministry of Environmental Protection has warned that central and southern parts of the Beijing municipality, and the regions surrounding it, face severe pollution over the coming 10 days. Anti-smog measures have been increased, traffic is being restricted, and hundreds of industrial plants will be closed within a 200-kilometer radius of the capital. Drones have been sent out to monitor factories and power stations in and around Beijing, including Tianjin Municipality and Hebei Province. Around 60 industrial plants have already been found to be breaking emission regulations, authorities say they are "taking steps to regulate them".
