China’s first National Cyber Security Awareness week kicked off in Beijing. Liu Yunshan, a member of the Politburo Standing Committee of the CPC Central Committee and a top official on internet security attended the opening ceremony and delivered a speech. In his speech, Liu emphasized the need to raise public awareness on cyber security, and putting greater effort to promote the rule of law online. He also noted that China should actively participate in international dialogue and cooperation on cyber security and take measures to resolve outstanding issues. These efforts, he added, would help establish a transparent, multi-lateral system on internet governance.
