The wealthy can eat at their homes, couches are arranged around a low table, family members recline with their invited guests. It's an elaborate affair, a key social activity. The people lower down the scale don't have kitchens or space to eat. From the sheer number of taverns and diners in the town, it looks as if for many the norm is to eat out.
