 -We're just coming into the city of Varanasi. It's one of the oldest continued things inhabit its citizens in the world. It's a place that's said to be as old as Babylon.The same religious rituals have been practiced in the temples here for more than a thousand years and remaind virtually unchanged. At dawn each morning, people come to worship the river and bathe in the sacred waters. The American writer, Mark Twain, who came here in the 1890s, wrote that the city is older than history, older than tradition, older even than legend. Varanasi has been a place of faith for 30 centuries.
