1942Pan AM’s Pacific Clipper arrives in New York, becoming the first commercial airplane to complete around the world flight.
1994An attacker clubs figure skater Nancy Kerrigan on her right leg,among the men later sentenced to prison, the ex-husband of Kerrigan’s rival Tonya Harding.
And 1993The world loses two artistic greats, Jazz trumpeter Dizzy Gillespie dies at age 75 and ballet dancer Rudolf Nureyev dies at age 54.
