 This is AP News Minute. 1. Russia’s Defense Ministry released video said to show Russian warships launching missiles at Islamic State targets in Syria. Russia began carrying out airstrikes in Syria last week in what it said was a preemptive (serving or intended to preempt or forestall something, especially to prevent attack by disabling the enemy) operation against terror in the Middle East. 2. Doctors without Borders call for independent and unprecedented fact-finding (especially of a committee or its activity having the purpose of discovering and establishing the facts of an issue) mission to investigate US airstrikes on a hospital run by the medical aid group in Afghanistan that killed at least 22 people. The group believed Saturday’s airstrike may have been a war crime. 3. South Carolina Governor Nikki Haley said the death toll from massive flooding across the state has risen. Haley says the central area of the state is recovering as the water recedes. But officials are keeping a close eye at the southeastern part of the state. 4. Two snow leopard cubs ventured out for the first in Chicago’s Brookfield Zoo. The sisters have been bonding with their mother since their birth on June 16.
